We went on a great hike on Sunday. The only problem was we had to cross the river to get to the trail. Now I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that Torrey won’t hardly go in the river that is behind our trailer at the campground. Tried to cross on the log, rather than get her feet wet. Well, she learned real fast how to swim the other day. When we first decided to cross the river, dad put the leash on her backpack to try and help her along. The water was only knee deep for the people, and not really a swift current. Half way across the river, dad decided that the leash was a bad idea and left her to her own devices. She swam beautifully to the other side, and I think she actually enjoyed it. I love water, sort of, so mom put me down about 2 feet from the shore so I could cool off. That felt REALLY good. After we got out of the river, and we were both cooled off, we ran up the trail and had a great hike. There was another little stream we got to cross, and that helped us keep cool along the hike. When we got back to the river, and had to cross again, Torrey just followed mom and dad. For one brief second mom thought she was going to carried down river, but she swam hard and did just fine. They keep thinking I need to learn how to swim too. So I got put down in the deep water just off the shore, I think I swam pretty good. Mom said I won the wet t-shirt contest that day, whatever that means.
