Today’s Artsy Fartsy Artist is Melinda Dalke. I met Melinda on Google +, and was immediately drawn to her dog images. Melinda creates the small ACEO paintings like last weeks artist. She also has greeting cards, ornaments, and some very cute pendants with dog images on them. Melinda can custom make portraits, pendants or ornaments with your pet image. I think the pendants are awesome, very cute.
Here is a little bit about Melinda.
I am an artist living in Lebanon, Oregon. I share my life with two fabulous dogs, four beautiful cats, two funny parakeets and a wonderful husband. We all live in a nice bungalow with a flower and veggie garden, cherry trees and a nice shop/studio.
As far back as I can remember I have had a pencil, brush or pen in my hand-from drawing on my desk in 1st grade to now!
I love to paint, draw and sculpt.I like to approach each painting differently, some call my art Naïve Folk other Impressionism. I use many mediums-watercolor, acyrlic and polymer clay – I love trying new styles, mediums and materials. My favorites subjects are nature and animals. I try to bring a bit of whimsy and personality to my pet art.
I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1993, I graduated from the Community College of Southern Nevada with an Associates Degree in Graphic Arts. My art has been in numerous galleries and shows in the Northwest. I have won several awards with the Keizer Art Association, an Honorable Mention at the Lakewood Arts Festival and my work has been in many juried shows in Oregon.
I donate to animal rescues and shelters on a regular basis. Carolina Care Bullies, Arizona Basset Hound Rescue, Daisy Davis Pit Bull Rescue, Southeast Pug Rescue, Churchill Animal Protection Society to name a few. I also donate art to charity auction fundraisers.
