Today’s Artist is Les Powers. We met Les and his wife Tauni, at the Western Design Conference a few years ago. Go all the way to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and find someone from Utah. Go figure.
Les Powers, Artist
Les has designed and built furniture for over 30 years. He enjoys working with different woods and has found a new passion in creating 3- dimensional pieces. “Sculpting allows me to express myself by capturing the essence of nature,” he says. His creative works of art include free standing and wall sculptures as well as furniture. Working with a combination of mediums he creates distinctive one of a kind pieces that are rich in color, texture and movement.
Les’ inspiration comes from traveling the West and experiencing what nature has created. His great appreciation for desert landscapes is reflected in many of his pieces. The love of his work and his endeavor to advance in the direction of his dreams is evident in the detail of each of his new sculptures.
“It is my hope that my pieces will evoke an emotional response, making them special and meaningful to the individual viewer,” he says.
Les will be at the Fatali Gallery in Park City, Utah March 24th and 25th from 6-9pmAll of Les’ work can be seen at www.naturesforms.net
