Artsy Fartsy Tuesday – Debra Lampert-Rudman ceramic artistI found Debra through Linked-in. She was talking about her work, and a show she is participating in. I love the ceramic dog figures she is creating. Debra can replicate any dog into a wonderful ceramic keepsake. Debra currently has a show in New York at the William Secord Gallery. Which is an art gallery dedicated to dogs in art. How cool is that!! Here is a link to some of the pieces she has there. Here is a little about Debra and some images of her work. These first images show a piece from clay, to fired. Debra Lampert-Rudman Holds a B.A. from Kean University and M.Ed. from Pennsylvania State University. She has studied Ceramics and Watercolor at Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, the duCret School of Art, where she directed the Ceramics Department for several years, as well as with various esteemed painters, potters, and ceramic artists including Hella Bailin, Tom Neugebauer, Peter Callas, Elizabeth Horowitz, Chris Darway, and Marguerite Brennan. An award-winning ceramic artist, and certified Precious Metal Clay (PMC) artisan, Debra’s work has appeared nationally in various galleries, including an award at the prestigious Art Show at the Dog Show. Her ceramics and watercolors were recently featured in a solo show at The William Secord Gallery, NYC. Appearing in many publications including The BARK, Dog News, Cocker Classic, ACN Review, and others; Debra also writes monthly features on art for the Canine Chronicle and other publications. Debra lives in Pennington, New Jersey, along the banks of the Stony Brook River with her husband, Richard, and five lively parti-color cocker spaniels ranging in age from 4 to 13-1/2. All are champions and 1 was the #1 parti-color cocker spaniel in 2011 – GCH Dal-Mar’s Topaz Pistal, BN, CGC –
She breeds under the prefix Topaz Cockers (every 4 years or so) and is an AKC Breeder of Merit.
A member of the Cocker Spaniel Club of NJ, Debra has held Board positions, runs health clinics, and is very involved in raising awareness, funds, and samples for a cataract study to find a DNA marker for Cataracts in Cocker Spaniels with Dr Aguirre of University of Pennsylvania.
She is a member of the American Spaniel Club as well as a Board Member of the Morris & Essex Kennel Club and its PR Chair.
Debra assists the President of the Philadelphia Kennel Club at the broadcast for the National Dog Show – broadcast after the Macy’s Parade on Thanksgiving Day
Loves gardening, flowers – both indoors and out and has a fairly large collection of orchids and African violets – organic everything for herself and the dogs – and especially love hearing stories about people’s dogs and the amazing things they do for one another.
