Artsy Fartsy Tuesday – Gillian Rogers
Gillian Rogers makes the cutest t shirts
Gillian is a newer member of the BlogPaws community and joined the artist group there. She saw a post I did in that group a while back looking for artist to feature. I am so glad she contacted me about being featured because she has some fun stuff to share. She creates the artwork for a really fun line of t-shirts. The best part of these t- shirts, aside from being super cute, is 10% of the profits will go to charities to help animals.
Here is some info that Gillian sent me about herself, and her work.
Jumping ahead a few years…I moved to Los Angeles in the mid 80’s. Where I found a niche in designing and hand-painting T-shirts and jackets for celebrities and their children, Danny Devito, Billy Idol, Bruce Willis and U2’s producer were among some of my clients. I designed all kinds of merchandising for a singer named Vinx, and will actually be designing for him again shortly (some 20 years later!) I also sold very successfully a line of greeting cards.
In the 90’s I moved to New York City, an attempt at two lines of T-shirts was met with bootlegging and at the time I just wasn’t able to compete with their prices and it put me out of business.
A large span of time of not putting my art “out there” takes me to now. After years working in the music business and the health and fitness world, I’ve decided to take a leap of faith and get back to my love of Art. It didn’t take too much thought for me to come up with my line of T-shirts for dog lovers. I looked around and saw that there was room, most of the shirts I came upon were not so appealing (at least to me…) Hence Who I Am, I Am, a charitable endeavor so that I may give back to what I love the most. My dogs past and present have meant and mean the World to me (I want more, I really do). One of my first shirts was a hand painted one that I gave to Blake Lively, she is a client of mine. It was a one off, but she loved it so much (it was of her dog, Penny) that I thought to myself “what the heck” and I decided to go for it.
In the near future I will be adding a line of horse T-shirts, horses being my other huge love. I am a big advocate of Natural Horsemanship (AKA “Horse Whispering”) riding barefoot, bitless and treeless (that being the saddle) So, my T-shirts will be geared to that aspect of the Horse World.
I also have a blog attached to my website, I write about “dog life in Manhattan” there are many stories to tell…..
Be sure to visit Gillians website and blog, Who I am, I am. These cute shirts are perfect for dog lovers everywhere.
I think I recall seeing her in the community, cute shirts! Wonder if they come in black and white? (black background)
Hi Caren,
Thanks for your comment. In the near future I will be adding colors. Light gray, blue, pink. Suggestions of any kind are always welcome! I love to know what people want. If a lot of people ask for the black option, it may well happen!
All the best,
Gillian.

Hi everyone! I’d like to thank you all, especially Mary, for your kind words and support. I just started this business, with an almighty Leap of Faith. I really do love what I’m doing, and why I’m doing it! Finding caring, like minded people means an awful lot!
