Back in the Beautiful Desert
Back in the Beautiful Desert
Awwwww, winter migration. We left Utah on Monday, and landed at Lake Mead. It’s not quite half way to Phoenix, but a great place to stay for a week or so. Our first art show of the winter is next weekend, so we have a little time to relax and regroup.
We do love the desert. I really missed the wide open skies, and the beautiful sunrises, and sunsets. This sunset from the other night was a spectacular color.
It is nice being on the lake too. I took this shot of a lone bird swimming on the vast waters.
The other morning Torrey was looking out the window, a favorite past time, and started to woof. I went to see what she was looking at, she never woofs otherwise, and there was a coyote out there. I grabbed my camera, and got a few shots of him.
He wasn’t really in a big hurry to go anywhere. Which was nice for me.
He eventually went down a draw, and towards the lake. But, about 10 minutes later there were 2 more coyotes. I love seeing these guys, so pretty.
But, no more off leash walkies for Torrey and Roxy. Torrey has perfect recall, but these guys are known to draw dogs in and then attack. So, we are just more careful.
I keep hearing wild burros too, but so far no success getting photos.
Yesterday we had rain on and off most of the day, which is awesome. The smell can’t be beat, and this area has been in a drought. Last night it cleared in the west just long enough to give us a gorgeous rainbow.
Final colors before the sun went completely down.
I had forgotten what complete silence sounds, and feels like. It’s so nice.
You certainly captured the essence of why we love RV living. Wonderful images and light on the coyote.
I’m in awe with the rainbow! Spectacular colors of the sunset, indeed!
Gorgeous captures of the sunset and rainbow. The Coyote photos are awesome. Happy weekend to you!
Dearest Mary, HELLO! Oh what a teaching year…..I barely have time to manage my blog, visit or email before I have to dash off to school. Your invitation to the desert here is most welcome, and again, your photos are rich in depth and color and mood. That fox, OH How I envy that you have a proper lens to capture wildlife so beautifully! Also, I’m loving your horse shares on IG!
My mom thinks coyotes are cool animals and beautiful, but we have them right here in the suburbs and that is scary. On a walk about two weeks ago we ran into a couple at sunrise. They typically take off if Mom says something, but she is afraid they would try to grab us, especially me because I a pretty small. Stay safe, and enjoy the desert.
That sounds – and looks – amazing. No wonder you love the desert.
Spectacular. I love your coyote photos – he’s a beauty! And the double rainbow – wow!
Beautiful images. The desert is a special place, it’s openness and not the least the light.
