We love to hike and see new places. No surprise to anyone who has been following my blog. We have been some fun and beautiful places on this trip, and many others that we have taken. [nggallery id=24] It always amazes us when we go somewhere fantastic, and see people driving everywhere, and no one on the hiking trails. We like to be away from the crowds, no doubt about that, but people are missing some fantastic scenery by not leaving their cars. My mom read a little article the other day that said 3 million people visit Yellowstone every year. Less that 1/10 of 1 percent of all those people get more than 100 yards off the road. That is sad. We don’t go much into National parks, because for some dumb reason dogs can’t hike there. But when we have, we see people driving and not getting out and walking. Mom and dad went to Glacier National park for their honeymoon 4 years ago. They hiked everyday for 10 days. There were far more people on the roads , than they ever saw on the hiking trails. That was actually very nice for them. The statistics for Yellowstone are probably the same for most of the other National parks. Based on what we have seen anyway. It’s sad people are missing all the beautiful things there are to see off the beaten path. Sad for them, great for us.
