How to pack light for any trip, anywhere — 10 Comments

  1. I like the rule of three! THAT is brilliant. On our recent trip, I took very few pairs of these items and it left space in my backpack for what was more important for me to have: my computer and camera! Good advice and have a super weekend, Mary! OH! We’ve been watching a bunch of cowboy movies (Open Range, Lonesome Dove and another Robert Duvall movie) and I believe some of the footage was in Jackson Hole! We loved watching the gorgeous landscape, the horses of course (my passion) and I kept telling my husband about your adventures. What a glorious place!

  2. That’s the post for my mom… and I really hope she will learn something. we had TWO suitcases full with stuff for ONE night in a howltel. and the highlight came as my mom seriously asked my dad if we can buy socks somewhere, because she forgot it… unbelievable… I like the rules of 3 that’s brilliant, many thanks!

  3. I always pack light. If it doesn’t fit in my backpack it ain’t going.

I’ve recently discovered travel space bags that can compress your clothes even more. They’re like the ones people use with vacuum cleaners except the bags have a valve that sucks the air out as you roll the objects. It was a great way to shrink our winter coats for the boat.

And I could see it being a useful way to pack dirty clothes for the trip home if you want to make room for souvenirs.
