In the wilds again — 20 Comments

  1. Well you should have skinned that snake for a hat band and you could eat the snake. Just kidding! King snakes are friends of the desert and we don’t want to harm them. So yard work is picking up remains of post travelers discards. Now your Dad may have to make something out of those treasures. Some are leaver rights.

    • That’s interesting. Torrey has a great sense of smell but she didn’t notice the snake at all. He was to the side of the trail in the bushes a little.

  2. Oh, you are in such a beautiful place, Roxy. I love to chase lizards too but you are right, they are hard to catch. I have a snake that lives in my and my neighbors’ back yards…I think we dogs can smell them. I know when Slitherin (that’s what I call the snake) sheds his skin, I always try to go in for a good sniff.
    Have fun!

  3. Dogs can definitely smell snakes. My guys FREAK OUT at just the smell of a shed snake skin. They are both afraid of snakes which is a good thing I think. Not too many poisonous snakes in my area, but I really don’t want them messing with any snake.

  4. You get to be in such beautiful places, my mom says she’s envious. She misses spending weekends camping out in the woods under the stars, falling asleep to the tunes of night buggies and waking up to a cacophony of bird songs. She says she always felt invigorated spending all her time outdoors in the fresh air. Oh well, maybe someday she can do it again!
