A little macro today – Photo Friday
Your typist today – MarySince we are in a pretty ugly, and uninspiring area right now, I thought I would explore a little macro photography today for Photo Friday. Everyone has probably guessed that I am a huge rock hound. While we were in Arizona I was in rock hound heaven! All these photos are of rocks I found while we were in the Arizona desert. The diversity I found, was amazing. These first two photos are of an ammonite I purchased in Quartzsite. I have both halves, and it’s about 5 inches across. I love these, and this one is very unusual with the hollow chambers. These photos, are of turquoise I picked up. I found several veins of turquoise, and had a blast treasure hunting for all I could find. The turquoise is quite often found in quartz. So that made for some interesting stones. This is a geode I found that was already open. Usually they aren’t, but I think this one either broke somehow, or wore down. The crystals inside are very awesome. I have no idea what kind of rock this is. I found one vein, in one place. They were hollow, and jagged looking. Like teeth inside an orange mouth. These are chalcedony, or chalcedony roses. Again, we found these in one spot one day when we went for a hike. These look to me like someone folded them over and over. Some, are very translucent. This one has a spot of fire agate in it. I know this isn’t macro, but they are some very cool heart rocks from the desert. I love heart rocks! Hopefully you love rocks too, or at least enjoyed a look “inside” these. Have an amazing weekend!!
