ABFriday-One photo focus
ABFriday-One photo focus
The first Friday of every month is One photo focus on After Before Friday. That’s when all the participants edit the same photo. Today’s photo is from Shane at The Weekly Minute.
This is the photo after the edits I applied.
And the photo before any editing.
I started by cropping the photo down to what I felt was the interesting stuff. I then lightened the whole image. Added a graduated filter to the bottom half to lighten that even more. Used a radial filter on the tree to the right to pop it out. I then played around with some presets, but decided a medium strength HDR helped the photo the most.
To see what everyone else did with this same image, go to Visual Venturing.
Have a great weekend friends!!
Fascinating. Now I am hopeful that the many pictures I’ll be taking in Carmel in June, though they could appear dark, have a chance when I put them through Photoshop! What a huge difference you’ve made here MARY! Happy weekend! Anita
The lighting is wonderful on your edited shot, well done. Have a happy weekend!
Oops, the link to what others did, didn’t work for me, however what you did really makes this a much more vibrant picture!
Nicely done.

Well done, Mary. You really got the better out of this quite difficult image. I really like the faded colours.
very nicely done! good light and glow.
wow your great at fixing the photo Mary! What a difference.
That’s a huge difference! Your changes make an amazing difference, I really like them.
That looks great! I hadn’t thought of using a filter to lighten up the bottom. I know how to do it, I just didn’t think of it. It really helped.

Great editing on Shane’s photo.
beautiful editing job.
Good Job…you improved the photo without changing the content!
WOW!!! What a difference…:)JP
Beautiful crisp and bright colours
Great job! I think I may have abandoned the original photo and what a mistake that would have been!
Simple steps, Mary, but so very effective! Your use of the filters and the choices you loaded into them really made the image come alive! And the crop you chose was one I originally chose too (and then abandoned as I went back-and-forth … and back-and-forth … and ended up using the whole frame) so I really like the perspective. Thanks, as always, for your support of ABF/1PF. It’s always fun to see what you do :)
I love yours. The original is too dark (IMO) and the way you modified it, I think it looks sort of futuristic. It’s very cool.
Wow, that is amazing how you brought that photo to life!
