All Girl Wild Horse Trip
All Girl Wild Horse Trip
I just got back from 4 days with the wild horses. It was mostly an all girl wild horse trip, and we really had a great time.
A friend of mine that lives here in Utah has a friend that lives on Vashon in Washington, and we met when we stayed there a few years ago. She mentioned a month or so ago she would really like to see the wild horses again. Her and her hubby stopped here last winter, but they didn’t have the best of wild horse luck. Anyway, I told her we would be here in October and if she wanted to visit, that would be a great time. So, Al drove the RV out to the desert on Tuesday and dropped us off. Mary, my friend, drove her car and we were all set.
This post is just a quick smattering of some of the many, many photos I took. Karen, and Mary left on Thursday morning, Al drove out that morning and stayed the night, then we shot photos yesterday until around 1. So, I haven’t had the chance to even go through everything yet.
It was nice to see the foals that were just small last May, growing up healthy and strong.
And to see old friends doing well.
Wednesday morning we drove to the south herd, and I got to see one of my favorite mares.
The scenery is always so gorgeous.
We got lucky both evenings and had the whole herd, about 200 horses, run to water. They ran past us, and that is the most thrilling sight to see, and hear. Mary and Karen were both so happy to be able to experience it. These images are from the first night. I haven’t even had chance to look at the second nights photos.
Running always gets the stallions wound up too. I love evenings the very best out there.
These two images are from Thursday night. This stallion had rolled in the dust, then shook real good. He looks like he is exploding.
It was late by the time a few horses went to water on Thursday. I did get some cool action shots.
I will post more images as soon as I have chance to get through them all, and I will be adding to Mary Hone Photography as well.
Happy Saturday!
Wow, amazing photos of the wild horses. They are all beautiful. Nice photo of you and your friends. Have a happy weekend.
