Artsy Fartsy Tuesday 11/29/11-David Lemon
Today’s Artsy Fartsy artist is David Lemon. I have to give credit to the hubby for finding this artist. Al is always looking for sculpting stuff on the internet. One day he happened upon David’s website and blog. David is a very good sculptor, and he likes to share his work with the world. He has a camera set up in his studio in Montana, and just about every day he will record himself sculpting. He talks about his technique, ideas, and generally what he is currently working on. It’s an entertaining and informative blog.

David has been creating art since first grade. He entered a contest were the winner got to paint a store window. So at the ripe old age of six, he won the contest and painted a store window front. Impressive. As a senior in high school he took a pottery class. He failed miserably at throwing pots, but the teacher gave him some sculpting clay and encouraged him to try that. He learned quickly that he had a talent for sculpture. In 1977 he entered his first piece in the state fair. The sculpture was mistakenly placed in the pro category. That didn’t matter, he won first place anyway.
David considers his greatest achievement, the fact that he has been able to be a full time artist since 1981. He is represented by several galleries, and has won numerous awards for his work.
This is a picture of a two recent sculptures that are being sold as a set.
We have seen David’s work in galleries, and it is impressive. Great attention to detail, textures, and historically correct.

Very nice article on David Lemon. He is a great cyber friend, a true gentleman and his “awesomeness” with sculpting and videoing it all is such a treat.
