This is probably my favorite of the week. Al has been working on this on and off for a few weeks. When he creates a new piece, he always asks my opinion on it. I loved this idea from the start, it’s actually something we have been talking about for a while. Once he got the cabinet built and the art carved into the face, he asked my opinion on color. From the very beginning I could only picture this piece one way, and he got it perfectly.
A couple weeks ago I showed you a bag that I was beading for a friend. She makes very beautiful and detailed quilts, and we are doing a trade. I told her I needed a quilt for our new house. We have a king bed now and I want something nice, and comfy. All her quilts are truly a work of art. I told her I wanted something simple, so we could use it. But my friend has seen the quilt in the making and says it’s amazing. I hope this beaded bag is a good exchange. It’s done on traditional brain tan leather, and I lined it with red trade wool. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.
This past Thursday we made one more up and back trip to Jackson Hole. Hopefully our last one for a while. He did another carved dresser for a house up there and we did the delivery. It came out beautiful, and they were thrilled with this one too.
This is the tree detail in the corner of the mirror. And the side panel.
Now that these projects are done, hopefully we will be heading to Arizona soon.
