Artsy Fartsy Tuesday-Finishing up the photo challenges
Artsy Fartsy Tuesday-Finishing up the photo challenges
Wow, I’m done with both 52 week challenges for 2017. I have to say, I’m pretty happy with what I accomplished this year. I certainly learned some new things, and some weeks I had to really stretch to take a photo that would fit the theme. I did the Dogwood 52 challenge in 2016 too, and looking at those photos compared to this year, I have definitely improved.
So, here are the last few weeks for both challenges.
Week 48 of the Dogwood challenge was Artistic bodyscape. I had to cheat a little on this one. Rather than use a human subject, I used Torrey. But I did do an artistic edit.
Week 48 for 2LilOwls was worms eye view. Walking in the fall leaves I was inspired for this one. I lay down, and shot the dry leaves.
Week 49 for the Dogwood was to shoot in the blue hour, and tell a story.
Week 49 for 2LilOwls was on a walk. This is how me and the dogs walk. Roxy in her pack, and Torrey leading the way.
Week 50 of the Dogwood was to take our straight out of the camera shot from week 3, and give it a full edit.
Week 50 for 2LilOwls was in the wind. I took this the day we left Utah. We drove all the way to Lake Mead in a horrid head wind, and it was still so windy that evening. Torrey is so good at the super model in the wind look.
Week 51 for the Dogwood was fear, in an artistic way. I had to pull a photo from earlier in the year for this one, because I couldn’t have shot what I’m really afraid of, which is crowds of people. I’m often asked if I feel fear when the wild horses start running towards me. Yes, I do. Mostly because they are so focused on each other, and nothing else.
And finally WEEK 52!!
The Dogwood challenge is to tell your story in a photo. I thought about creating a multi layer image with all the things that I think define me. But as I was going through photos, this one from early in 2017 pretty much said it all.
And finally, the 2LilOwls is underneath. I took this shot on Sunday at a place I will share with you tomorrow. I love the reflection underneath the flying bird.
I am really looking forward to both challenges for 2018. Denise at 2LilOwls has already posted the prompts for next year, and the Dogwood 52 will be posted on the 23rd. They are promising even more challenging weeks this year, so it could be interesting.
If you are at all interested in doing these types of challenges, I encourage you to check these out.
Torrey makes an excellent model! The photos all look great! Mom loves reflection photos. She got some by accident in the kitchen yesterday.
Your talent and the world as you see it always inspire me!
Hello, Torrey is a great model, so pretty. I love the sky shots and the pretty Stilt in flight. Wonderful collection of photos.
Enjoy your day!
I have enjoyed photo challenges, Mary! Thank you for sharing your remarkable wildlife photos.
Torrey is such a beautiful model. <3 :)
Thank you so much for sharing. I don’t often comment on blogs, but you have been such an inspiration to me I wanted to express my gratitude. You have encouraged me with your challenge participation such that I signed up for a photography course next year. I am such a newbie, but have high hopes for the outcome! I too love the outdoors, the west in particular and all the fur-babies. To a Happy and Healthy 2018!
Lauri, Thank you so much for your kind comment, it’s comments like yours that make my day. I am planning some more in depth, informational blog posts for next year on the photo challenges, and I hope you find them helpful and inspiring. And how exciting that you’re starting a new adventure with your photography!
You did such a wonderful job with all the challenges!
