Birds, Beautiful Birds
Birds, Beautiful Birds
Close to town there is an area that overlooks the elk refuge. Flat creek is a marshy area that always has ducks, swans, geese, and small birds like swallows. We stopped there the other day so I could get some shots of the swans, and also the swallows.
These swallows were all fledglings. They were not quite full grown, and their parents were still flying food to them. Even though they could clearly fly on their own.
This little one still knows the drill for getting lunch.
Better try a different spot.
I love the feather pattern, and how he’s watching over the shoulder.
I also saw a young cedar waxwing. This is one of my favorite birds, and the first time I have ever seen a young one.
This swan was fascinated with something under the water. She kept dipping her head down, eating, then coming back up. Then she would curve her neck so she could look and see what was down there. I took the photo, made a copy, and created this composite photo.
I know it’s photo-shopped, but I thought it was pretty cool.
Have a wonderful weekend friends!
Lovely photos!
I particularly like the young swallows.
Thank you, they are pretty dang cute.
yes… that’s the perfect title for this post :o) the first bird looks like my momma after my dad dismissed one of her great plans LOL
Lol….Cute little grumpy face.
Oh my these are among my favorite photos of yours – I LOVE birds. That top pic looks like it would be perfect for a canvas print. They’re all so beautiful.
Thank. I love birds too but they can be so hard to photograph. The photos will no doubt be made into large prints.
That first bird is super cool looking!
Thanks. I like the way that one turned out too.
I love birds so much especially pretty song birds. Cedar Waxwings are a favorite, but I’ve also never seen a fledgling. It’s so much fun to watch the antics of the young ones – and they’re so noisy too! :)
LOVE these!
