Camping in Grand Teton NP
Camping in Grand Teton NP
If you follow us on Instagram or Facebook, you already know were we are.
We pulled into the Gros Ventre campground on Monday. We wanted to wait till the weekenders were gone, so we could be in a spot we know we love. This is our fourth summer staying here, and it always feels like coming home. Even the dogs know we are home when we get here.
This is about the only time we stay in a campground, but in the Jackson Hole area, options are limited. There are places to boondock here, but they can be kinda far from town. The Gros Ventre campground is basically boondocking anyway, as there are no hookups at all. Situated right along the Gros Ventre river in Grand Teton national park, it’s pretty ideal. Our favorite spot is close to the river, and we all love it. When the afternoons get hot, we can just walk down and cool off.
Torrey has finally decided that swimming is an alright thing.
Shake that fur!!
The water is always so cool and clear here.
And there are pretty blue butterflies to watch.
I love this area. We always see tons of wildlife, and the scenery can’t be beat. I have already taken so many great photos. The Tetons are “My” mountains, and I love them.
Staying in a campground can be less than ideal at times. The general quietness that exists in this campground, can be completely destroyed by one idiot with a construction generator. But this guy is supposed to leave in a couple days, so we will survive until then.
That water is so inviting! Wish all water was like that. What a beautiful spot to be in!
Butterfly…
There’s always that one person, isn’t there? I guess he could be shooting off firecrackers, so it could be worse :-)
Oh the sky in that shot with Al and Torrey Mary, your magic touch at work! LOVE THE WATER like the dogs! Enjoy, Anita
What an interesting butterfly and little waterlilies!
Also another opportunity to see you in front of the camera – bonus!
That river is so beautiful, and yay for Torrey enjoying a nice swim! My crew would definitely love that.
I love the Grand Tetons, an awesome place to camp or visit. I love the cute shots of Torrey! Pretty butterfly captures. Beautiful images! Happy 4th of July, have a great weekend!
This is an area we are looking forward to exploring with the MH. We have been there twice on motorcycle trips but haven’t done any hiking yet. The Tetons are beautiful and it looks like you have a great location. Enjoy:)
Looks like fun. Primitive campsites are the best, in my opinion.
Great sequence of pics with Torrey in the water. The water looks inviting . Can you fish there? I can see a sculpture of those mountains in your future. Looking into my crystal ball today There will be many surprises awaiting you on this adventure this year. Grab that gold ring when it shows itself. Yes I am into fortune telling.
I love your life! What a beautiful place to stay. ♥
I have got to get to the Tetons!!!
It’s so pretty there!
What a relaxing post! I love it all, and I have to say that last picture of the butterfly is just fantastic!
I am so happy for you – it sounds like an idyllic spot. And your photos show how beautiful it is!!! Isn’t the “camping generator” thing crazy? We saw an ad about buying the “camping essentials” and they included a generator! Ugh.
But, that guy will be gone soon, and you’ll have the sweet babbling of the river to listen to!
This is one of my favorite places in the world – we were there for part of our honeymoon last year, and I can’t wait to get back! Have a great time!
There’s always one person but I’m glad you don’t let it ruin your perfect camping spot. Love Dolly
Hope the guy with the noisy generator leaves soon! Meanwhile, I must agree that the scenery is GREAT!
I’d probably be the idiot with the generator. The idea of no electricity does not appeal to me at all.LOL
