Dealing with the Covid Virus
Dealing with the Covid Virus
Wow, did you ever think that we would see something like this? Empty store shelves, empty restaurants, empty streets in some places. It’s all kind of surreal. We are dealing with the Covid virus by hunkering down in the desert and watching what comes next. We are healthy, and so is our family. We are just hoping that continues.
Last weekend we had an art show scheduled in Tucson. Every single art show down here has been cancelled, except the one we had to be at. I kept hoping they would shut it down, but when they said they were going ahead we decided to just go. We had paid for the booth, paid for a campground spot, and figured what the hell, give a try. We got lucky and scored some hand sanitizer, so armed with that and extra vigilance off we went. The crowd was super minimal, but we somehow managed to make up our booth fee, so while we didn’t make any money we didn’t go backwards either. We came straight back to our desert spot, knowing that social distancing is best done in the middle of nothing. I told Al we have been practicing for this moment for almost 8 years. LOL
I’m glad we made that decision, and I feel really lucky that I can walk out my door and into the desert. I imagine the social distancing is very difficult for people in a city.
So, in this post I’m just going to share some recent images. I’ve added a bunch of new stuff to my website including, an online art show page. I have seriously discounted some of my mixed media pieces, so if you have ever thought about getting some art, now is a great time. Just click the banner below to be taken to that online art show page.
Ok, onto the images. Just sit back, enjoy, and take a mental break for a little while.
This little colt is impossibly cute.
We had a big rain storm the night before these were taken. I think everyone was pooped.
This momma has the cutest colt.
Of course, the river is my favorite place to find them.
And there have been birds. These bald eagles were super fun to watch.
This is a young harris hawk getting a flight lesson. Mom and dad where nearby calling to him, so he would fly from place to place.
And this. I found this great horned owl nest purely by accident on the 6th of March. I’ve been watching, and waiting for the owlets to hatch, and show their cute fuzzy selves. Fingers crossed this happens soon.
I hope you guys are all doing OK. I think it’s a good thing that we have an online community, where we can at least reach out and talk to people, and most of all check up on each other. Stuff like this brings out the worst in people, and also the best. Let’s all try to be the better people.
Hello, I am glad you are doing well. I loved all your photos, the horses are beautiful and the eagles and owl are great sightings. Stay safe and well. Have a great day!
Glad to hear from you as we have been wondering what your are doing during this very strange time. For us the only major life change is no dog sports. Mom works from home always anyway, and we are not out and about much except with our sports and dog friends so it isn’t a big change. The stores are getting better. The fools are not hoarding as much thankfully. Stay safe and enjoy your peace that you have been practicing for years.
Your photos are such a welcoming distraction from the events of the world. Everyone should know about them and share them. I certainly will. Thank you.
Glad to hear all is well! We are hunkered down too… and thanking God everyday we are in a beautiful place to do so here in AZ! You all take care!
Thank you for the gorgeous captures… I needed a mental health boost!
Stay safe!
your photos are beautiful as always, stay healthy!
I’m an introvert anyway, so social distancing comes easy for me! Things are pretty normal here on the farm. Both hubby and I are still working (I only go out of the home for work two days/week and come in to contact with very few people when I do!!). Hubby’s in the grocery industry so he’s working extra hours, which I’m not thrilled about, he’s been tired. All this crazy hoarding has caused that, and I hope it settles down soon.
What a beautiful place you have to distance!! I enjoyed the wildlife photos very much, and have been enjoying the little owlets on FB too. :)
Yes, social distancing in cities is a bit more difficult that in the desert, I bet. But so far I have been able to deal with it quite OK. At least I am not sick yet – and I am glad to read that neither are you. But, yes, it’s all surreal, isn’t. Stay safe, Mary.
