Desert Bighorn Sheep Rams
We decided to stick around this part of Nevada for a little longer. We do like it here and being close to the Valley of Fire is so nice. Al has been Plein Air Painting, and we have made sure to explore some new areas. But, the best part about staying was hitting the desert bighorn sheep ram jackpot the other day.
We came across 4 really nice sheep.
They weren’t in any hurry to get anywhere, which was nice.
I so love all the curls, and design, and just everything about these guys. Especially if there is more than one.
Then, we noticed this guy. He was standing there making the oddest noises. Who knew they made noise like that. He was definitely focused on the other 4 who were walking towards him. This guy was bigger in body, and horns. For sure an old warrior.
This guy looked like he had something to say.
The larger of the 4, was in the front of their little pack, and headed towards the other big ram. This got me excited thinking we were going to have some head bashing. He sure had the posture going in.
But, no head bashing. Just a hello, hey how are you kind of thing.
Watching all 5 of these rams was amazing. They just seemed to be the old boys club having a nice morning.
A nicely posed group.
After their modeling session, they climbed up a steep rock face, and disappeared.
Like I mentioned, we did some exploring of new areas. There are a few actual trails, but mostly just wandering through the desert is what we like to do. One day I dropped Al off so he could paint, and I went wandering. These images below are from a couple different days of wandering.
This caught my eye. So many lines, patterns, and textures going on.
I really like this, not sure why.
I have added several really nice images of the bighorn rams to my website. Some really unusual, and unique shots.
I also created this video with some of my favorite images of the bighorn sheep.
I hope you enjoy these guys as much as I did.
