This weeks Dogwood 52 prompt is Loneliness, in the creative category. Generally speaking, bison, pronghorn, elk, and deer are herd animals. Sometimes though, we will see one lone bison, or even more rare, a lone elk. I often wonder when we see a big bull bison off on his own, did he get too old, do they get kicked out, or just decide they want to be alone.
Is he lonely?
The other day we drove into Teton Park early in the morning. (more photos on that day coming soon.) This time of year the elk are getting more visible, and early is the best time. Oddly, we saw this lone bull elk around noon. He was huge, and wasn’t skittish like they usually are. These images don’t convey “Loneliness” like the one with the bison, but I wanted to share this guy with you.
The 2 Lil Owls this week is Pattern. I’ve been experimenting with some new photo ideas, and having a lot of fun doing it. One thing I know for sure, if I want to stand out from the usual photography at a show, I need something different. I will share more of these images in a future post.
This might be a cheat for this weeks prompt, but I’m pretty excited about creating it.
I’m about out of Lightroom tips to share with you guys. There is one more tool I need to cover, but other than that, I’m stumped for ideas. Is there anything you would like to see covered, something you’ve had a question about? Let me know in a comment and I will see what I can do.
I love the elk photo where he has turned his head and is looking at you. He’s almost smiling. Maybe he’s posing? I am still figuring out Lightroom. I should go look through your posts to see what tidbits of advice you have. My biggest problem right now is trying to work on only a portion of the image v.s. the whole image. I haven’t really been successful at that yet.
That lone buffalo definitely depicts lonely, and brings our sad for us. I’m sure there are a lot of photographers at the shows, but your photos have your special style and touches. I can’t imagine people don’t just love them.
I do wonder if they get kicked out. Like what do they do with the old animals that cannot keep up with the herd?
