Gold Rock Ranch in California
Gold Rock Ranch in California
I wanted to write one more post about our stay outside of Yuma, because this place is just cool. We went to the Gold rock ranch last year when we were in the area, and we just had to go again. It’s an RV park, antique store, and small desert mining museum. It’s not very far from the Tumco mine and ghost town. I wrote about that last year, you can read it here.
I love these quirky little desert places, and if we ever stayed in an RV park it would be like this one. Small, quite, and with friendly people. Last year a guy we had never met offered to let us borrow his sand rail so we could go play in the dunes.
The antique store is my favorite though.
I love things like this. It’s the kind of stuff I look for when we wander in the desert.
The antique store has a pretty fun variety of items. Things that have been found, and regular antiques. I fell in love with this cream pitcher.
What do you think of this old plate? Who knew they had stuff like this back in the day.
I wanted this bottle with the horse on it, but I had already picked out 3 bottles and I can’t carry everything. I’m glad I got some photos of it though.
Because the Gold rock ranch is so close to the old Tumco mine, they have a lot of the old mining equipment there. Check out these huge pulleys, they are about as tall as a person.
And a few old trucks. I love old trucks like this!!
And if you want to see just how great a golfer you are, you can try out the El Rocko country club.
Like I said, funky and eclectic. Just my style.
So if you find yourself in the Southern California desert, not too far from Yuma, take a side trip and go visit the Gold rock ranch.
Check in tomorrow to see were we have landed.
Oh wow!! That place is neat! I bet my husband would love it there! He enjoys treasure hunting! :D
Then yes, he would love it!
Looks like a fun place to explore, lots of treasures… Have a great day!
Looks like a great place for a treasure hunt. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly
Places like this are so fascinating and a photographer’s dream too! We have a junkyard not far from here we love to visit with all kinds of odd stuff, but it would be fun to find such a place far from home.
Again Mary, you are a pro. I LOVE THAT BOTTLE with the horse! YES! And those trucks? Magazine worthy, I’m tellin’ ya….
The bottles were all so cool, and yes, a magazine would be nice. Thanks!!
what a great place, I love to hold such old things in my hand, pondering who bought them once as they were brand new and what they could tell me when they could talk :o)
That is exactly what I do.
I guess living in an RV helps curb the impulse to buy everything in sight. I would’ve grabbed that horse bottle. :)
Ya, I should have just got it, dang.
What a cool place with cool stuff. Can’t wait to see whats next.
really cool! like that horse bottle, the old truck, and very cool pitcher! laughed at the plate!
What a cool place! I love the old bottles and the rustic feel of everything!
Love your pictures. Maybe you should swing a deal with that antique dealer?

What a cool place! The sign and the horse bottle are so neat.
That sure sounds like a fun and funky place! The plate really made me laugh!!!
Your pictures are so very cool. My mom collects old milk bottles, it’s fun finding them for her.
That horse bottle is amazing!
I love to just browse in antique shops to see what you can find. That one really looks great!
