Hiking Big Elk Creek in Idaho
Hiking Big Elk Creek in Idaho
Since Sunday was my birthday, I wanted to go for a hike. I think we have hiked every year for the past 8 or 9 years. Mr Google told me there was a hiking trail not too far from us, so off we went.
Big Elk Creek is a beautiful area. The creek ends up in a nice size lake that adjoins Palisades reservoir. The trail goes up the canyon for miles, but we didn’t go quite that far. It is unusually hot here right now, and none of us were up for a marathon hike.
The creek is beautiful, and the forest is super thick here.
Apparently there was a very wet spring, so the flowers are amazing.
Hiking all in a row.
After a couple of miles, we were hot, the dogs were hot, and we wanted to get near the creek.
Torrey ran right in, up to her ankles. Al decided to help her get even more cooled off.
She was not impressed.
I got Roxy and her hiking shirt wet so she could cool down too. Then she found the good shady spot.
Al said I needed a photo with the dogs, since I am always the one behind the camera.
So photogenic. LOL
It was a nice little hike, and a great way to spend the day.
that are great photos, specially the last one… and this creek looks as if it had diamonds instead water… maybe that was the reason that Torrey wasn’t impressed?
easy rider
Maybe. She is not really a diamond girl. LOL
Good morning Mary! WHEW, if there’s anyway to get relief, it’s a nice COLD CREEK! Love these bodies of water; we have a lovely one that runs through our CITY! Minneahaha Creek…it ends up at the falls in South Minneapolis, and it’s quite a sight to see. OH the dogs are adorable….and happy belated birthday! Anita
Hmm, it looks like Al forgot to say “smile” ;-)
So good to see you in front of the camera for a change!
Your entire crew is looking great.
I am way better behind the camera, than in front of it.
Nonsense! You look great!
Pretty wildflowers. And a great spot to cool off. I like the last shot of you and your cute doggies. have a happy day!
Happy (belated) birthday. That’s a great way to celebrate. My favorite is the yellow flowers pic.
Looks the perfect birthday to me (except the heat)! The water was a great cooling off spot. Yes, Torrey doesn’t look too happy with the cooling off:) Glad you came out from behind the camera:)
Happy belated birthday!!!!!
and what fabulous photos — and so nice to ‘see’ you! :)
We get our new pup tomorrow!!!! <3
I can’t wait to see and hear about the new pup. Squeeee!
What a wonderful get away place your at. Those shirts for the hot dogs is a great idea. Glad you got to be in a picture to Mary. Whats the knee brace on Al for?
It looks like such a great hike. I always wish someone would take a picture of me with the dogs too, since I am also the one behind the camera. :-)
That looked like so much fun! I agree Torrey could really use one of those Sun Shield Tees! Love Dolly
The flowers are really vibrant, all that extra water has to go somewhere. What a beautiful place to hike
What a beautiful place! I love hikes along water too, so nice for the dogs to be able to cool off.
That water looks refreshing. Sounds like a great way to spend a birthday :-)
Loving the photo of you and your dogs!
Poor Torrey, she did not look at all amused by the extra water but I bet it felt good. Happy belated birthday!
That creek is so lovely! Happy belated birthday!
Happy Birthday!!! That’s the best way to spend a birthday. It does look like Idaho got lots of rain this spring! Beautiful!
That is great travel! Lovely, lovely nature.
