Horses in Silhouette
Horses in Silhouette
This week for the Dogwood 52, the assignment is silhouette.
I shot these horses at sunset, and when I shot into the sun, I got a great silhouette shot.
This is the original photo. Which do you like best, the B/W or the original?
This week the photo prompt from The Daily Post is Curves. It’s rather easy to find curves in nature, since nature is the ultimate artist.
This photo was shot on the Missouri river when we were in South Dakota in April. I loved the way the plant just curves back on itself, then the cute curlicues too.
This photo was also shot in South Dakota. Of course there are no better natural curves than a rainbow.
Oh Mary, you know I love these wild horses! I can’t decide which one I like better; the original one allows us to see their sweet faces, the details of their curvy bodies! But the B&W is really effective and emotional. You are right: nature is the ultimate artist, and just a few minutes ago when I woke up and looked out the window, I saw the strawberry moon. What a sight. Light from the moon fascinates me, light from the sun energizes me. I think I shall go out today and take some photos!
Hello, I love all the horses and images. The rainbow shot is beautiful, what a gorgeous view. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
Your photo of the plant curving back on itself reminds me of a quote from the Bhagavad Gita — Curving back on myself I begin, again and again.
I honestly can’t decide which of the 2 horse photos I prefer — they are both so beautiful.
I love the silhouette shot, Mary! The rainbow capture is magical, what a view. :)
I think each horse photo has its own interest. I find myself leaning toward the original (surprising even myself), but maybe that’s because I love horses so much that I always want to see every bit of their beauty. Love the rainbow shot, the landscape is amazing. I’ve been thinking about you with all the extreme heat in the west this week; I hope you’re outside its reach.
I couldn’t choose between the two horse photos if I wanted to. They are both exquisite in their own right. It depends on what the viewer is looking for. I love them both!
Last one is mesmerizing ! Was it shot from the plane ?

I love the black and white photo – it makes them stand out so much more dramatically.
