Hummingbirds in Flight
Hummingbirds in Flight
I’m still obsessed with catching the hummingbirds in flight. They are so dang fast, and it’s so rewarding when I can get a half way decent shot.
This is just a cute shot of a fluffy white hummingbird butt. And tiny little feet.
This series of shots, turned out pretty nice I thought. I applied textures to these, and I like the look of them. I have added these to the Mary Hone Photography website.
This is the female Anna’s hummer. I’ve never noticed before, but they have little jewels on their throats.
The other day I was in the house, on my computer, and I could hear a loud bird chirping sound outside. I went to the window, looked all around, but the only thing I saw was the female hummingbird sitting on the branch. I thought for sure something was under the RV, so I crept out the door. Nothing. Turns out, the hummingbird makes a very loud chirping sound. Way louder than their tiny little body. Crazy.
Yesterday, I caught the male hummer right at take-off.
He sees something…
Then…3,2,1….take-off.
I love these little guys, and I wonder if they don’t have a nest nearby. If the female comes, the male shows up after a while and chases her away. Maybe they are taking turns sitting on eggs. I can see the male most of the day hanging out around the big ironwood tree, which would be a good nest spot.
More hummingbird buddies in the making perhaps.
This is a GIF I made from a series of shots. To really see it as GIF though, you have to view it on facebook. For some reason wordpress doesn’t support a GIF file.
Happy Sunday!!
WOW.That has to be such a rewarding feeling to see that you were able to capture both movement and perfectly focused stillness at the same time. Bravo, Mary! I so love your animal shots!
The first photo and the other couple with the bright colors on the birds remind us of some of the old Christmas ornaments made out of metal Gramma has on her tree. Very vibrant and beautiful.
Hello, lovely captures of these beautiful little birds. They are so quick, you captured them beautifully. Enjoy your day and new week!
LOVE THESE LITTLE GUYS THAT ARE LIKE JEWELS IN THE SKY.
Amazing photos. I can’t even imagine how you can capture those small, fast-flying creatures. We have plenty of them around our feeders, but I have never even tried to capture one of them. :-)
We don’t blame you for your obsession, and we’re glad you have it! Their spectacular colors and your capture of them with your camera are both amazing. ♥
