I want to share these awesome finds with you
I have found some cool stuff recently, and I want to share these awesome finds with you.
Maybe I am the last person on the planet to get stuff from Shutterfly, but maybe not. When we were in Arizona we shopped at Safeway, I really miss that store, they were doing the Monopoly game, where you get playing pieces every time you shop. We were hoping for the big win, which didn’t happen, but we did get quite a bit of free stuff. One game piece was for a free reusable shopping bag from Shutterfly, so I got on their site to check it out. I was impressed to see how cute they are, and how many different designs you can get. Of course the big draw is putting your own photo on it.
It’s a nice size, and a durable nylon. I love the idea of reusable shopping bags, but I never, remember to take them in the store. That’s the best part of these bags, they roll up really small so I can put it in my purse. And I carry a small purse.
For Earth day they were offering free bags, so I ordered another one.
The bags are normally $16.99, but I did notice they are offering half off until May 10th. I will tell you though, shipping from Shutterfly is not cheap, so even though the bags were free, I still paid $7.00 for shipping. When I signed up for Shutterfly, I got 50 free 4×6 prints, which I put in my little book, a free magnet, and some free address labels. Despite the high shipping cost, I have been happy with all the goodies I have got from them.

I have the Kindle app on my tablet, and we have Amazon Prime. About a month ago, this book came across as a free read on Kindle. How Dogs Love us, by Gregory Burns. Of course anything dog related is something I love and this looked interesting. I loved this book! Gregory is a neuroscience researcher, working with MRI to map humans brains. He wanted to try the same thing with dogs, but had to find a way to get the dogs in the MRI awake and alert, and to hold perfectly still. The book is about the training, the idea behind it all, and what they ended up studying. I tell you, I look at my dogs differently now. Especially Torrey because she is just so damn smart. If you love dogs, you will enjoy this read I’m sure.
And how about some free photo editing goodies.
I signed up for Creative Market about a month ago. They have all kinds of fun stuff on their site, fonts, textures, vectors, and graphics. Every Monday they send out an email of freebies of the week. There are usually 5 or 6 bundles of something that you can download for free. Of course not everything is something you want, but hey, free on stuff you do want is great. And the prices on all the other products are very reasonable. All you have to do is sign up for the email list.
On1 Photo editing is a nice suite of photo filters, basic adjustments, and some fun texture overlays. The program can be a stand alone editor, or work with Lightroom, and Photoshop. It’s nice that it will work on it’s own, in case you don’t have LR, or PS. I took this photo and did two quick adjustments to it. One was a clarity adjustment to bring out the contrast, and the other is this cool “Earth” overlay. Took me all of 5 minutes.
I got an email the other day that the full On1 Effects 10.1 is now free. It was originally released in 2015, and like Nik Effects they decided it could now be offered free. So take advantage of that, if you are looking for a simple, fun photo editor.
I hope you guys like the list, and find something that you love too.
Good morning, Mary!!!! What great finds, indeed, and I am going to also look for this free editor! Happy day!
The bag is a great idea! I had ON1 for a while but I don’t use it often like Lr.
These days anything free is a welcome sight to my eyes! Thanks for sharing your list!
Shutterfly looks interesting – YEARS ago I started using Snapfish for my online photo storage; but somewhere along the line they sold out to HP and allowed Carly Fiorino to totally ruin them. I still have my account – so I can access older photos – but I no longer use them for newer/current photos. One of these days, I’m going to download all those old photos and save them to flash-drive sticks or dvds.
Love the bags!
Shipping costs to Canada are even worse so I now always try to find a Canadian supplier!
Your bags look wonderful and that last photo is as well.
Personalized shopping bags is such a great idea! I’m the same way as you, I always forget to bring them into the store with me. I even keep some in my car and can’t remember half the time. Being able to roll it up and put right in my purse would be perfect! They’d also make a great gift.
You need to head east, so you can SHOW me how to edit. ;-)
