It’s good to be back in Wyoming
If you have been following the blog for very long, you know we love our summers in Wyoming. We always do a few art shows in the Jackson Hole area, and coming back to Wyoming is like coming home. We generally spend July through September in the Jackson area, but this year we will be spending time in Montana too.
We arrived a week early for our first show, and decided to spend that week in Star Valley. We love Star Valley, this too feels like home. It’s an hour from Jackson, but not anywhere near as expensive for housing and land. We almost bought land here 9 years ago but the deal fell through. It was a good thing actually at the time. Last year we came through here and found a 2 acre lot that we fell in love with. When we stopped to look at it, we met the only other people living here. They are artists too, and incredibly nice.
Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. I mentioned to our new friends here that we wanted to see the land again, and were also looking for an out of the way place to spend the long July 4th weekend. Long story short, she asked the owner of the lots here if we could park the RV at the end of the road. We met him last year too, and he is also incredibly nice. He said of course we could stay, as long as we wanted to. So for this past week we have been parked in a great little mountain spot, and Al has been able to really check out the land and figure out a studio, and small house. Now we just need to sell his shop in Utah. We would still travel, but instead of having to go to Utah to get things done, we could come here. A much better plan.
I love all the Indian Paintbrush here.
We have also been able to do more exploring of this area. One day we drove up a beautiful canyon. We actually ended up in Idaho, because that is really very close to here, and it was very nice. We stopped at the river for a while, and relaxed and waded in the water.
Torrey is getting better and braver with swimming. She didn’t take much coaxing this time.
Roxy got right into the water too, up to her knees anyway. Then she just wanted to sit next to me or Al in our shade.
I picked a bouquet of Indian Paintbrush. I love these flowers, they have no scent, but every time I have pick a bunch they last forever.
It’s been fun to explore what will hopefully be a new home base for us. And getting to know the neighbors more has been a treat too.
Happy 4th of July friends!!! Make it a great, and safe day.
That water looks so inviting. Have a lovely 4th of July. Sorry we have been away for so long but we miss you all. Have a great day.
Best wishes Molly The Wally
Hello, I loved visiting Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. They are all beautiful states, gorgeous scenery! Jackson Hole is a cool town. I love the cute shots of Torrey swimming. The Indian Paintbrush is lovely. Wonderful post, great news and photos. Happy 4th of July! Have a great new week ahead!
Torrey is an impressive swimmer, love the photos in water. :) <3 Beautiful Indian Paintbrush!
Your story reminded me a history professor I have known for a while who goes to Wy every summer to do his research/writing and couple who had horses there, where they spent their vacation time.
What a GREAT plan. I love all your photos. I feel like I’m in Wyoming with you. What brilliant Indian Paintbrush!!! Wow! And the clear water with Torrey playing in it. Just wonderful!
How exciting your plans are for your new home base! I love the clear water in that river, I’d be constantly checking the rocks for fossils! LOL I LOVE the pics of Torrey in the water. How long does it take her thick coat to dry off? Daisy is more like Roxy, she *might* go in up to her ankles with a LOT of coaxing, then it’s shade and air-sniffing time.
How exciting! It is so beautiful there. I hope everything works out!
I’ve got everything crossed it works out for you!
