A Little Bit of Everything
A Little Bit of Everything
I’ve been so busy and focused on photography lately, I feel like I’m leaving some stuff out of the blog. Photos that I want to share, but have kinda skipped over. So these photos are a random sprinkling of things I have photographed in the past couple of weeks.
I have had my heart set on photographing the elk. They are not very easy to find however. They head for the timber right after the sun comes up, and you might see them again late in the evening when it’s almost dark. A friend of mine had seen them in the park early in the morning, so we headed there on Friday early. We got lucky. The shooting conditions could have been better, the sun was right in front of me, but I was glad to see them.
I love to hear them bugling, such an amazing sound. This morning was very cold so he had steam coming out of his mouth when he bugled. This was the biggest bull we saw, and he had a nice size harem too.
We had a few rainy nights, and one morning the very best photography was close up. The tall grass here turns red in the fall, it’s the most gorgeous thing. Add raindrops, and it’s magical.
Not to be outdone, the wild roses have beautiful fall leaves too.
This was a shot I just happened to see in a different way one evening. I have walked past this spot walking the dogs a thousand times.
Monday morning we got up early to drive up Togwotee pass and look for bears. As we left, the sunrise was amazing and the bison were all over.
They scratch on the old fence posts, looks like it feels good.
Oxbow bend was pretty, the fall leaves are getting amazing right now.
And this was a first for me yesterday morning, 5 deer crossing the river. 2 does, and 3 fawns.
Our time here is about to end, already. We have to leave on Monday, and I feel like I’m squeezing every ounce out of that remaining time.
that was so great to see… I nearly could skip my real daily walk today LOL… but think Easy will complaint :o)
Thank you for always bringing a slice of nature to me that I’d never see otherwise. SO majestic, Mary!
So grateful you share what you are photographing and seeing in your last few days there Mary. So beautiful.
I love the photos of the grass and raindrops. Stunning.
These are such gorgeous photos, Mary. I’m so glad you posted them. I love them all, and all in different ways. I think the elk photos are fabulous – that sky and sun in the first photo are so moody and the whole scene is so perfectly balanced. The silhouette in the second photo really shows how huge his antlers are, and I love seeing the steam from his open mouth. The bright yellow trees at Oxbow bend are breathtaking. I’m enthralled by those fence posts – people must have actually lived in such a remote area at one time. Fascinating. I can imagine how difficult it is for you to leave such a beautiful place.
So much beauty to capture! You could shoot there forever!
simply gorgeous! I pinned a number of these!
I really need to follow in Caren’s footsteps and pin these photos! They’re all gorgeous! It’s such a shame you have to leave soon. But I’m sure you’ll find other beautiful parts of nature to capture in your photos wherever you go. Have a safe journey!
Wow – spectacular shots – all of them!
Thanks for sharing your views with us – always so beautiful, they touch my heart. That oxbow photo with the yellow trees is pure joy!
SO VERY BEAUTIFUL!
Wow, aren’t the fall colors there gorgeous! Morning photos are just the best, and haven’t you had some wonderful views and wildlife to photograph. I can see why you want to get everything you can out of it before you leave.
Looks like you’ve definitely made the absolute most of your time!
