Marvelous Moose Morning
Marvelous Moose Morning
I have been a busy, busy photographer. Walking, hiking, and photographing the moose. I’m not sure what I will do with myself after we leave tomorrow.
The other day was a Marvelous Moose Morning. There have been several actually, but everything lined up perfect on this day and I got some amazing shots, in perfect morning light. It had been raining most of the night, so I was glad to see clear skies when I got up. I found Washakie before the sun was fully up. He was still laying down with his cows, so I just waited. I took this nice river reflection shot while I was just hanging out.
He eventually got up and started wandering, and eating.
Dang he is a handsome guy, especially with the fall colors.
He went into the willows near the river, so I went out in the river so I had the sun to my back, and perfect light on him.
I love this shot with stuff on his face, and in his antlers.
Two young bulls showed up. They were not welcome, as you can imagine. He chased them upstream, and they felt crossing the river was best. I waded into the river again, to get these shots.
We named these two Tiny, and Blackhawk. Tiny is the little guy on the left.
This is a better shot of Blackhawk. The skies were getting very dark, and I love the dark and light contrast in these photos.
Washakie watched from the shore, to make sure they left.
The next morning was pretty good too. Custer showed up, he has been MIA since he stripped his antlers. He had one cow with him.
Then the 2 small bulls started sparring with each other. There is no way these guys will get cows of their own this year, so I think they just practice fight with each other. It did get rather heated there for a while.
But, it’s all good.
The rainy nights sure make their coats look neat.
I have taken thousands of photos, and kept about a third. I have a lot of sorting to do to get some of these for sale on my photography website. I hope you enjoy them.
They have the cutest faces……and what a golden kingdom for them to strut about in. Enjoy every falling leaf Mary.
They do have cute funny faces. And I am enjoying every moment, and every leaf.
Those young bulls sure are a powerful looking pair in the last photo.
Hello, these are awesome shots of the moose. I love the beautiful trees and colors too. Great post. Happy Monday.
Once again amazing photos of moose. These are spectacular images.
Thanks so much.
Those are some amazing photographs! The moose look beautiful among the Autumn colors.
Thanks. The autumn colors are the best backdrop.
I love your moose images! Beautiful changing colors of leaves.
The fourth from the last one is so sweet! <3 Thank you for the post, Mary! :)
Thanks so much, I’m glad you enjoy them.
They are so handsome! Wish we had a chance to see wildlife like that in person! Just beautiful.
The light-dark contrast is gorgeous. I’m glad ol’ Custer got himself a girl. ;) It’s interesting seeing the two young ‘uns practice fighting but still being good buddies afterward. I wonder how old or how large they have to be to get the ladies interested?
