Mountain man rendezvous
Mountain man rendezvous
If you have been hanging around this blog very long, you know we participate in mountain man rendezvous’ through the summer. Since we got together 8 years ago, it’s been one of our favorite thing to do.
This past weekend was our clubs rendezvous, and it was a great time as usual. Some of the craziest, kindest, funnest, most genuine people in the world, go to rendezvous. This is were our best friends are.
We throw hawks and knives, shoot black powder rifles and pistols, shoot archery, and generally have a great time.
Lots of people camp primitive like these wonderful folks here. That means they put up a canvas tent, with wood poles and ropes. Cook over a fire, sleep on the ground, or in a small bed, and do everything else in a pre-1840 way.
These three women are some of my great friends. We laugh, we hug, we care about each other.
These two are just plain fun, and goofy. We love shooting archery with these guys.
Hyrum has been a blacksmith for, well, forever I guess. He pounds out some amazing things, and is constantly working.
And yes, this is quite the crew. Saturday morning was the Utah state hawk and knife championship, and this is some of the participants. That’s Al on the far right.
I love going through the traders. Most all of the traders make, and sell their own goods. My friend and her husband are both so talented and make wonderful things.
And of course there are always antique trade beads, my favorite.
It’s so nice to step back to a time where people are honest, good, and caring towards each other. If the world goes to hell in a hand basket, these are the people I want around me.
It does looks like a fun time. I love the sepia images, so cool. Have a happy new week!
How fun to go back in time! At first Mom was concerned as she saw the three men and read these ladies are your friends, but then she saw the next pic! It made for a good morning laugh!
Good morning MARY! Isn’t it fun to find people who are not afraid to veer off the over-beaten path? Who think way outside any box, who just want to express themselves freely, beautifully? FUN TIMES!!!!!!
I LOVE when you go to the mountain mad rendezvous!! I hope you are having a GREAT time!
I love this way to but at my age and condition give me a trailer and a bed at night.
i like the strength of your kinship. :)
This is such a wonderful thing you’re part of, Mary. You’re so fortunate to be acquainted with so many good, down-to-earth people. You’re right – if anything devastating happens, these are the people who will survive and who will help others survive as well. They and their lifestyles shine a bright light on how far askew society has gotten. Great photos.
how wonderful that you enjoy this each summer
i would love to go into that shop, my kind of stuff
handmade and quality
Looks like a fun time. So we’ve seen Al decked out in his traditional duds, how about you?
What fun! Looks like a good time.
Love hearing about the rendezvous!
It was so fun to see you! Anasazi Rendezvous rocks and we will be back next year!
How interesting!
Great pics and looks like a lot of fun! I’m such a city girl, but I’d love to try throwing a knife or shooting an arrow! (But everyone would probably have to stand very very very very far back!)
It’s important to have good people around you when the world goes to hell in a hand basket. FYI when it does, I’m heading your way. ;-)
That looks like so much fun, though I don’t think I could do the primitive camping thing! :)
