One Photo Focus for August
One Photo Focus for August
It’s time for One Photo Focus, part of After Before Friday hosted by Stacy at Visual venturing. This weeks photo is from Katie Prior at Drawing with light.
I found this photo very interesting, and something I would love to take myself. The lines are so interesting, and the feel of the ocean is quite evident. I felt the image needed drama. The old looking stones on the jetty, the crashing waves, the dark sky.
This is my after edits.
This is the original image. A wonderful image to start with.
I started by using a preset that I like in Lightroom. It’s called Big sky and comes in 4 different “strengths”. I used the strongest one. This gave it the drama I was looking for. I then bumped up the whites to highlight the stones and the waves. I used an adjustment brush on the waves crashing on the jetty, to highlight them even more.
That was about it. I hope Katie likes what I did with her image.

Oh, LIGHTROOM. My husband is getting it for me! We were looking at it the other day at Best Buy and I do believe it will offer me more than what I get out of Photoshop (or what I’m actually able to UNDERSTAND how to use in PS!)
Gorgeous transformation, Mary!
It is a pretty scene, love the dramatic sky on the first photo! Happy Friday, have a great weekend!
I really like you editing result Mary! The stone texture and the sky are all so beautiful! :)
Definitely much more dramatic and powerful with your edits. I’d love to go to a place like that!
Sometimes a preset gives us exactly what we want. Great choice.
That’s gorgeous! Very moody and crisp.
I like what you did. Very dramatic!
I love what you did with it…you really added some moodiness and drama!
Love it, but I always loved drama. You gave this image just the right amount of power, excellent work.
Yes Mary, I really do like what you did with this! You’ve certainly added plenty of drama. Thanks for your kind words. :-)
I like what you did with the photo, I think it definitely ‘pops’ now.
