One Photo Focus
One Photo Focus
It’s the first Friday of the month, so it’s time for One Photo Focus. That’s when a bunch of crazy photographers get together over at Visual Venturing and edit the same photo. So be sure to head over there and see what everyone else did.
This weeks photo is from Helen Chen at HHC Blog. This image is very interesting, with so much depth, and a lot of layers.
This is the image after edits.
And this is what it looked like before.
I started by cropping it down, so all the focus was on the interior and the funky vines. I got rid of the bright red gizmo on the inside too. I then adjusted the clarity, shadows, highlights, and vibrancy. I also wanted to give the image some texture, to bring out the feel of the whole thing. I took the image to Perfect effects 9 and used a filter texture called earth. This added some more color, adding to the unique look.
I personally would like to see this old building, what a cool thing to photograph.
Paring down and FOCUSING really helps in more than just photography! Oh the difference Mary! I am so inspired….
that was my first thought too… I would love to enter this old house… and after editing it looks like a super secret place what screams for brave discoverers :o)
I like the effect of the filter Mary, gives it a very, err, earthy feel! It does look an interesting old house, I wonder what is like inside?
Love the filter effect and what you did with the croppinh
Oh wow! What an amazing difference your edits made — love it! And yes, I too would love to see it.
Wow, great texture, color, and lighting of the After version. Really cool, Mary! :)
That really is a fascinating building, and I’d love to explore it too. I can already think of several storylines that I could use it in! Very nice twist you put on it.
That is an amazing transformation. My mom is not that great at editing.
Great crop – changed the feel of the entire photo and, along with your edits, brought a wonderful depth to it, Mary!
I like the colors and the crop! It was fun to play with this month, wasn’t it?

Good morning, wonderful job on the edit. I like the earthy colors. Well done! Happy weekend to you!
Really nice work, Mary. The crop decision was a good one and I like the way you opened up the shadows a bit on the interior.
Edit transforms a picture, renders it a new life.
Your edits sure did make it more vibrant and interesting!
The vines and stems (trunks?) really stand out in your version and I do prefer the golden hues!
You give this room a life! I can almost hear it breathing. ;-) Thank you.
This is only one room of a large house. Banyan tree is everywhere in the house. It’s an interesting place indeed! Now in my mind, I see the whole house has color like your photo. And that makes me smile.
