One with the Earth
One with the Earth
The photo prompt this week from The Daily Post is Earth. Nothing exemplifies Earth more to me than the bison.
I have been lucky in being able to observe these guys in Wyoming, and now a little bit in the Badlands too. Bison move constantly over the earth, so they never over graze an area. They help keep the ground in balance, which helps other species too.
Of course they were the whole world to the Native Americans who lived on these plains. Providing, food, tools, shelter, everything. Going through South Dakota, and Nebraska I could just imagine how thrilling it must have been to see the massive herds of these wonderful animals. It’s an unbelievable tragedy that the white man had to wipe them all out.
If people were as smart as wild animals at helping the Earth and ecosystems stay balanced, it would be such a better place.
Hello, wonderful post and gorgeous shots of the Bison. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
Beautiful!
An yes, very true. We could all Be Like the Bison.
You captured the majesty of the land and the bison, Mary! People (most poeple) are selfish, self-centered, shortsighted… say the least.
Oops, most people…
I remember horrible stories about shooting them from trains and letting them rot.
wonderful images of these massive giants.
Gorgeous creatures, but I don’t want to run into one too close up.
They do a much better job and have a better understanding than we do.
Good afternoon, Mary! I so agree with you; if only the human race would listen to the wisdom of the earth and animals, we would be happier, we would be more connected to our roots.
