Rain Changes Everything
Rain Changes Everything
This has certainly been the rainiest year we have had here in Arizona. I’m not complaining, not in the least, the water is very welcome and I know very needed.
Plus I like the way rain changes everything too. Everything just looks more vibrant, scrubbed clean. Saturday night it poured, almost all night. Sunday morning we awoke to giant puddles, full washes, and very low clouds. I climbed the hill behind the house to get this shot.
I then went in search of cool stuff the rain had changed in some way. The wash behind us had a lot of water, and the trees were reflected in the water.
The rain certainly brought out the color in stuff too. This little cholla cactus skeleton was such a cool color.
And this ironwood, look at the texture in this.
The sun came out by mid morning, so that was all good.
I am however sad to say that Miss Torrey is injured again. Ugh…just about this time last year she had the partial tear in her ACL. We were in Seattle, and she went on rest and restricted activity. Which was pretty much a bummer for her when we got here to the desert in mid January. This year, she’s been having so much fun running and hiking, being her free self. Until New Years eve. We were getting ready to go to Silly Al’s Pizza in Quartzsite. (The best pizza anywhere, by the way.) I let the dogs out for a potty break, and they both jumped back in the RV. Except Torrey did something in her jump back in that hurt her leg. She immediately started favoring her left leg, last year it was the right. We blocked off the upstairs, and went to dinner hoping for the best when we got home. Ya, not so much. She was still doing the 3 legged hop when we got back.
I felt her leg, checked the ACL as best as I know how, and I can’t see anything wrong. No swelling either. Today, Sunday, she is still doing the same thing. I can tell she is exasperated with it all. Poor thing. I’m starting to think it may be her foot. When I press on it or move it around, she tries to pull pack. If things are no different after a couple days rest, off to the vet we will go.
We did get a tiny sunset walk in, with cool long shadows.
But she is clearly not wanting to go very far. That 3 legged hop looks tiring to me.
The sunset was pretty awesome though, kind of a wavy thing going on.
So hopefully this rocky start to the New Year, is not how things are going to be. I’m ready for a great 2017, aren’t you?
So sorry to hear about Torrey. We experienced a similar situation with our dog years ago. It turned out to be a throne that we didn’t initially detect even after close paw inspection. Our diligence paid off in the end … darn those cactus. Good luck and hope it isn’t serious!
Sending POTP to Torrey. That stinks! I hope that she starts to heal really soon.
That sure was a spectacular sunset. Wow!
I certainly am! Here’s hoping she’s 4-legged again! Loved your shadows shot :-)
POTP on the way for Torrey! I sure do hope it’s not something serious and she will recover quickly. Happy New Year to you and Al!
Glorious sunset captures! Love the shadow photo. I sense that 2017 will be a good year. :)
Love your photos especially the way you captured the texture of that ironwood.
Love the sunset shots! Very cool shadows. Hope your pooch is up and running again soon.
Thanks so much. And yes, I hope she is up and running soon too. She is a little better today, which is good news.
We hope your 2017 gets back on the right track soon. I’m glad to see in your comment above that Torrey has improved a little….paws crossed that continues!
