Rain in the Desert
Rain in the Desert
The days have been cooler, and windy, which is usually the case when there are storms in the northern states. I would still rather have 60’s and a brisk wind, then be up to my knees in snow however.
This was our sunset two nights ago, clouds began moving in and that always makes for great skies.
Then yesterday afternoon, the rain began.
I absolutely love it when it rains in the desert. It doesn’t happen very often, and it makes the dry desert world so different. Plus the scent in the air is unbelievable. Nothing in this world compares to that wonderful scent. I wish I could send it to you guys over the internet.
In between showers yesterday, I grabbed my camera to see what I could see. We are parked next to a small, yet deep wash that is solid rock in spots. The water had pooled in these rocks, making nice little reflective puddles. Then it started sprinkling again, and I captured some some airborne drops.
I’m easily amused and could take photos like this all day.
I’m pretty sure the cactus are glad for the rain.
It rained almost all night, and it’s a misty, moisty morning today. Pretty socked in out there, but oh…..the smell. Divine!
I’m looking forward to getting out there with my camera again today. It’s a changed world, and it won’t last very long.
WOW! WOW! WOW!
Love those shots! I’m not sure I’ve ever been in the desert when it’s raining?? Trying to imagine that smell!
My mom is the same way. She says her camera is a time suck just like social media. She could take pics 24/7 and never get bored.
Hello, I love the first sky shot. Beautiful colors. Happy Thursday. I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas!
Beautiful shots! I imagine the desert rain smells as heavenly as a spring rain here, but probably times ten! :)
Good morning Mary! My last week of school required me to leave really early, but I am happy to say I am officially off for two weeks! I missed your posts! Wonderful close ups of ordinary moments made EXTRAORDINARY through your lens. Happy holidays!
New to your site. Great stuff. Looking forward to seeing and learning more. This spring or summer we will be full timers. New Class B motorhome will be ready then. In the meantime doing a lot of research.
Lloyd and Roberta.
