Reflections
Reflections
The Dogwood 52 week photo challenge this week is Reflections in nature. I kinda cheated on this one, as I took these photos a couple of weeks ago. But they are just perfect for this week.
One evening in the desert, I was wandering like I like to do, and I found this little broken piece of old mirror. The sun was setting, and I thought how cool would it be to hold up the mirror, and get the sunset reflected in it. So I tried it.
I took several shots, like playing with a shiny new toy. When I got the photos on my computer the next day, I realized I was going to have to do some blending in photoshop to make them work. Either my hand was in focus, or the mirror. So I blended two images and got this. Actually there was more to it than that, but we’ll leave it there.
When we went to Valley of Fire I took my little mirror with me, to get some more photos. I still had to blend two images, but I was a little more prepared for that this time and shot the way I needed to. I like they way they came out, and the mirror now lives in my camera bag.
And the photo prompt from The Daily Post this week is One Love. I looked through all my photos and couldn’t really find a single photo that showed love. But while looking through the photos, I was drawn to the things that I love, collectively. Of course the hubs is top of that list. My boys are on the top of the list too, but I’m a bad mom and don’t have current photos of them. (note to self, remedy that situation) Then the doggies, love them. And dogs of course are the perfect examples of selfless, unconditional love. Looking through my photos I got home sick for my desert, and the beautiful, remoteness that is there. So I created a collage from a few photos I had. My One Love is a lot of things together.
Hello, the reflection photo is awesome. Well done! Your love mosaic is beautiful with your hubby and the sweet dogs. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
That’s a pretty neat idea. Sometimes the best things happen by accident!
Mary, those reflection pictures are absolutely brilliant, I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them. Fabulous idea and really well done images. Love your “love collage” too!
PS- The shape of that shard of mirror reminds me a bit of a thought bubble you see in comics, and I can just picture it with the desert reflection over Roxy’s or Torrey’s head with an urban setting behind them, like they’re dreaming of the desert while stuck in the city. :)
That’s a great idea, I am so doing that!
WOW. Now that is a great experiment that when WONDROUSLY! They look like paintings, Mary! JOB WELL DONE! ANita
