I am so excited about this product review!!
I received a package of wonderful products from Ruffwear right before Christmas. Things I can really use, and that the dogs can benefit from. Today I am going to review two of the products they sent, then tomorrow, two more.
For Torrey, we were sent the Summit Trex dog boots. These are perfect for her. It’s impossible to tell a dog, “Don’t run close to that cactus, watch out for those sharp rocks.” They just don’t listen. Since we are out in the boonies, and the dogs can be off leash, finding something to protect her feet was super important. I had some other foot covers for her, but they just didn’t work so good against the cactus and sharp rocks. The Summit Trex boots, are awesome though.
Torrey is hilarious when we put these on her. She runs so fast, and just seems so excited. We have decided she is like a 5 year old with brand new shoes. She is saying, “Look how fast I can run in my new shoes!”
“And I can jump high too.”
I have peace of mind knowing that if she goes into what I call, a cactus mine field, she won’t get cactus spines in her paws.
The boots are easy to get on and off, have a velcro strap to tighten them on, and have a cuff around the top to keep out dirt and debris. Plus a wonderful thick sole to keep all the sharp spiny things away from her paws.
And did I mention style, as well as function? Yes, very stylish.
Beautiful, right?
I can absolutely see me using these on Torrey all year, no matter where we are. Last summer we hiked through the forest and she came back with pine gum all over the bottom of one paw. Plus, in the mud or wet. It will be, “Take off your shoes, don’t track that all over my floor.” Yep, Torrey and I are both thrilled with the new shoes.
Roxy received the very cute, and very warm Climate Changer jacket. This is the perfect jacket for her. She gets cold easy, and even though we are south, it still gets pretty chilly. (You saw my snow post the other day) The jacket came at just the right time.
And here again, we have points for style and function.
Such a cutie, and the orange is the perfect color for her. Especially in the sunset glow.
Roxy has always been OK with wearing a jacket or sweater. But sometimes they can be hard to put on. You have to get them over their head, then wiggle those legs into the leg opening. She is not always thrilled with that. But the Climate Changer jacket is perfect in it’s design. The zipper goes down the side. So first you put their legs in, put the zipper together at the top, then just zip up the side.
Seriously, why aren’t all dog coats made like this?
Made of nice soft fleece, she can snuggle up, and be toasty warm on our walk, or just hanging out. Perfect.
The Summit Trex dog boots, and Climate Changer jacket are perfect for our outdoorsy dogs. They are well made, and I can tell they are created with dogs in mind. Come back tomorrow to see what other great products Ruffwear sent for the dogs.
What an awesome review!! I am heading on over to check out their website!! The dogs look deliriously HAPPY!! I just love it!
Thanks! Torrey really loves the boots. I bet your girls would like a new jacket.
So precious, such great little models of health, joy and a lovely product!!! Our local pooches MUST wear these booties on days like today: -40! YES! OH Mary, I’m freezing, and I need to go to work. AH!
Have a warm day! Anita
-40??!! Oh Anita, I will work harder on sending warm winds your way.
I’m impressed that Torrey appreciates the dog boots! And it looks like they actually stay on. It’s frustrating to return home after an outing with only three boots!
I haven’t had one fall off yet. As long as the velcro strap is good and tight, it’s all good. And she runs all over in them.
Love the orange jacket, looks real comfy and easy to wear, but we don’t do coats. We are really interested in the shoes. They look great! Mom looked at those last year for Katie but they were expensive and she wasn’t sure if they would be good or not. Right now, paws crossed, she isn’t dragging any paws so she isn’t wearing shoes, but if that starts again, I think we will get her a pair of these. Great review.
I think the boots would work good for Katie, if she starts having trouble again.
That is some sexy gear! So styling! Great review; thanks for sharing these super products.
And (be-lated) Happy New Year!

Tootsie
It is sexy gear. Thanks, and Happy New Year to you.
OMD Roxy your fleece is like my fuschia one! You’re right they are really functional and practical, mom loves mine, more than me though. And Torrey, what an adventurous outdoor dog you are, so stylish in your booties. Love the pictures! Love Dolly
Thanks, she really loves the jacket. So warm and cuddly.
i REMEMBER WHEN I RODE MY HORSE YEARS AGO UP ON THE PAYSON MOUNTAINS. THE DOGS THAT WENT ALONG THE TRAILS WOULD GET SORE FEET. THEY ALSO RAN INTO PORUPINE CRITTERS! A TRIP TO THE VET WAS IN ORDER. THE BOOTS SEEM LIKE THEY WOULD REALLY HELP OUT ANY DOG IN TERRAIN THAT COULD CAUSE HARM. ROXYS JACKET IS SWEET.
I love the jacket, I will look if it exists for big dogs too, the color is pawsome!
It does come in big sizes. It would be perfect for you.
Oh wow! I need to get those Trex Boots for our camping and hiking trips! I could’ve used them this past weekend when we were camping/hiking…the forest had huge burrs all over the place and Ma was getting nervous that I would step on them and really hurt myself. I love the jacket…especially since it comes in my signature color of orange. Tell Roxy she looks fabulous in that color!
The boots would be ideal for when you are in an area with stickers. Peace of mind for me I know.
We are big fans of Ruffwear! Boca has one of their coats, and as she is also in need of some booties I am going to check out the Summit Trex. Great review and beautiful pictures!
Thank you, the boots are fantastic!
both girls are so darn cute! glad they like these new products! so cool!
The boots complete Torrey’s ensemble…the match her fur! I can see how great they would be in that terrain. Jack is starting to get some arthritis in his paws, so I think I’m going to have to get some of these.
I thought the same thing, they match her! Jack could probably benefit from these.
Both of those products look great!
I’m impressed that Torrey loves her shoes so soon after getting them. So many dogs have a big adjustment period and some never seem to like them.
Maybe Torrey is smart enough to realize the boots mean more fun?
And that jacket is adorable. I’ve wrestled getting some of my foster pups into coats and would have loved a side opening like that. If I win the lottery, I think I’ll buy a few dozen for the local shelter to send along with their short coated foster dogs.
I think she does realize they mean fun. It’s no fun getting hurt feet while trying to have a good time. The jacket design, is awesome.
You’re so lucky that Torrey has no problem wearing boots. Those are such great pictures and she looks SO happy! I love the fleece jacket on Roxy, she’s a wonderful little model. I think the zipper is a great idea for short-haired dogs, but I can see it being more difficult for dogs like Daisy with longer, curly hair that’s everywhere. Even with that bit of fabric underneath, it can get caught either during the zipping or at the top when first putting it together. But it looks like it was absolutely made for Roxy! :)
She really likes the boots, of which I am very glad.
Great products for your dogs and their lifestyle!…:)JP
We love Ruffwear gear and both the booties and the jacket look great!
Now I can truly say I’ve seen everything. :-)
We are huge Ruffwear fans! Their harnesses are by far my favorite, and Nola has the same jacket as Roxy (in grey, though). It’s the perfect fit and so easy to put on.
We LOVE any Ruffwear products here at our pack! So far, the pups have acquired their awesome Cloud Chaser Jackets & Top Rope Collars! Next on our to-get-from-Ruffwear list are their boots! ~Very nice review!~
Very nice! We’ve always been a fan of their products and are glad to see that have products for the giant breeds!
We are considering these booties for some of the really cold days. Such as today, -41 Celsius with windchill.
I would say in that weather, the boots are a must.
Sweet! Shyla doesn’t love those boots like Torrey does but she’s learning to tolerate them ;)
Oh my dog, they both look SO cute and happy in their new gear! I bet I could never ger Rita to look that happy in those boots! They look pawfect for the desert!
I’m impressed that Torrey likes her boots so quickly! And Roxy looks adorable in her jacket.
I could see us having a use for both of these products! Have you had good luck with the boots staying on once you put them on? That’s sort of become one of my litmus tests. We had one pair of boots that I had to stop every three paces to put one back on and it sort of defeated the purpose. I’m also picky about the jackets we get and the number one strike against them is if I have to bend the dogs’ legs to get them into the armholes. Once they start feeling the effects of arthritis, it’s not fun to have to bend those legs. I can’t wait to see what else you have to show us!
These would be perfect for the greyhounds. The jacket does not require any leg bending to get on, which is why it’s so great for Roxy. Old age has her with sore legs and back. And the boots stay on. The velcro strap can be tightened down really good. The first time I had them on Torrey, one did come off. But it was user error on my part as I didn’t have it on tight enough. Now, I know to tighten everything good and she runs all over in them and they never come off.
Both of these products look perfect for me!
The zipper up the side seems like a great alternative to some of the other straps, velcros, and top-zipper solutions we’ve dealt with. Thanks for sharing! *wags* – Gilligan from WagsAhoy.com
Wow, I’m really impressed with all of these products!!
I saw this posted on Facebook and have been meaning to get over and check them out. Question about the boots, do you think their feet will get too hot? Is there some ventilation? I’ve heard dogs sweat through their paws which makes me wonder about using them in the heat of summer. What are your thoughts on that?
we have both of these, and LOVE them. The orange boots are super cute with the orange coat.
We’re getting lots of use from the Summit Trex boots now to help with snow, ice and salt. We also have the Polar Trex boots, but the smallest size for those was still a bit too big for my dog’s rear paws. This coat is really great too.
