We took a drive through the Snake river canyon yesterday, on our way to Jackson Hole. We needed to run up there real quick, before we head over to Sun Valley, Idaho. I love this canyon. We have driven it I don’t know how many times, and I still love every mile. As the canyon opens up, there is one spot you can almost always bet there will be bald eagles there. Tall trees, right next to the river, a perfect recipe for eagles. Yesterday we didn’t have the trailer, so when we spotted the eagles, Al could quickly pull over.
These guys were way over on the other side of the river, have I said how much I love the zoom on my new camera? This is the river were we stopped.
When we were done in Jackson, we went back to Alpine, picked up the trailer, and found a new spot to be. Driving back into Idaho, you go past Palisades reservoir. It’s a big lake that is fed by the Snake river. We have driven past many times, and we have noticed a big grassy area with trees on the shore. There are almost always RV’s down here, so we thought we would try it out. The road in was easy, and there are quite a few spots to pull in and camp. The highway is fairly close, but not too noisy, especially at night.
These willow trees are huge, and beautiful. Not to mention wonderful shade.
I got out my beadwork stuff to work on, and Al worked on the sculpture.
And the dogs were thrilled! Especially Torrey. It’s like a giant, grassy yard to her. She ran wild and free.
We only planned on being here one night, but ending up staying a little longer it’s such a nice spot. We went for our evening walk last night, and saw this swan. We were able to get kinda close, she was so pretty.
And then there was this mama duck with 9 little ones on a pond.
