Sunrise Special Effects
Sunrise Special Effects
Yesterday I had a couple of photos from the sunrise on Tuesday. Well, yesterday I took some sunrise special effects shots. The idea all started with this weeks photo challenge. We are to take one shot, like it’s the last frame in a roll of film. I was having a hard time coming up with a technical photo that would fit this idea. Then I thought about a motion blur shot of the sunrise and all the lights in the valley below. I’ll have to show you my One Shot next week on Artsy Fartsy Tuesday.
After I had my single shot, I started playing around with shutter speed, and camera movement even more.
This is what it actually looked like with a normal shutter speed, and of course no movement.
I used a shutter speed of 1 second. I know that sounds pretty fast, but when you consider that normally the shutter operates in the 100ths of a second range, it’s pretty slow.
I pushed the shutter at the bottom of the sky, then moved upward with the camera.
Then I tried a couple with movement, and upward motion.
These are the kind of shots I never get to shoot, and it was a lot of fun to do something different.
After the sun rose a bit more, I took these shots to the east with the sun glow on everything.
Wish us luck for the weekend show, send good vibes and all that stuff.
Love the look of the after sun up photos. I can feel the landscape starting to wake up. Good luck at your show this weekend!
that’s like magic… can you share the magic spell to move the lights this way?
Good vibes sent; I’ll resend at regular intervals ;-)
Positive energy, good vibes, “and all that stuff” on its way!
Love all the shots, but like Emma said, I can feel the landscape waking up in those after sun-up photos. It is truly magical!
Always fun to play around when taking photos. I like these long exposures. And whether the experimental photos or the more traditional landscape photos, they are all gorgeous. The colours are amazing.
I especially love the cacti in the sunrise glow. They are glorious, and so different from what I see here!
Morning is such a pretty and clear time of day! The first photos are really cool, I’ve never tried anything like that – on purpose. LOL
Good luck at the show this weekend!!
Wow, those are really cool. Fun to try different stuff. Good luck with the show!!!
Hello Mary! It’s fun to play and see what comes of the different settings! I finally used my TV setting one day at the Minnehaha Falls and I’m glad I did. Lovely landscapes!
The morning photos are beautiful, special light.
That is so cool! Thank you for sharing the technique, Mary!
