Hiking Big Elk Creek in Idaho

Tales from the Backroad Posted on June 30, 2015 by Mary HoneJune 29, 2015

Hiking Big Elk Creek in Idaho

Since Sunday was my birthday, I wanted to go for a hike. I think we have hiked every year for the past 8 or 9 years. Mr Google told me there was a hiking trail not too far from us, so off we went.

Big Elk Creek is a beautiful area. The creek ends up in a nice size lake that adjoins Palisades reservoir. The trail goes up the canyon for miles, but we didn’t go quite that far. It is unusually hot here right now, and none of us were up for a marathon hike.

The creek is beautiful, and the forest is super thick here.

Hiking up Rock canyon

Tales from the Backroad Posted on June 1, 2015 by Mary HoneMay 30, 2015

Hiking up Rock canyon

Friday I took the dogs and we went hiking up Rock canyon. It’s a pretty little canyon that goes straight east out of Provo up a deep and somewhat narrow canyon. There is a nice creek that runs the whole length, lots of trees, and good scenery. We went 2 1/2 miles up, but the trail goes much further than that.

Torrey was thrilled she got to stop, soak her feet, and get a drink when ever she wanted to.
