Thursday thoughts with Torrey
Thursday thoughts with Torrey – My home grown hair cut
Well, it happened. Mom decided that rather than pay the professional groomers $50 every 8 weeks, that she would get a clipper and trim me herself. Keeping my long thick Aussie coat short, is good for me, and much easier for mom. Does she have experience at this…no, has she been trained….no. Did she at least read a book or look something up on line…no. Do you I look at least kinda Ok…..I suppose.

YOU LOOK FABULOUS DARLING! YOUR MOM DID A GREAT CLIP AND NEXT TIME IT WILL “EVEN” BE BETTER! YOU’R MOM DOES WELL AT EVERYTHING SHE DOES; AND YOUR A VERY LUCKY PUPPY!
Torrey, you look just fine and I am sure that mom will get better with practice. I have a really good pal that is the same breed as you, she gets so hot at the park, so I know you’ll feel a lot better at least. Love Dolly
I think it looks fab!
Yous knows, our Mommy cuts our hairy slobbery sister Bob’s pants all the time. Bob is half Aussie Shepard. Mommy uses scissors and Bob looks a little choppy too, but just for the first few days.

Well Torrey…it could have been worse. My Ma grooms my fur as well, though she DID read up on hand-stripping double coats before she started. That, of course, did not help my cause the first two or three times she groomed me though. I came out looking ridiculous. Ma has trouble with the long hairs on my paws too…so if you get some good advice on that, let me know!

Not bad for her first attempt. Your coat being multicolored makes it difficult to tell how uneven it is. I probably would not have noticed myself (on a galloping horse or not) if not for the close-up pictures. I considered cutting Pierson’s long hair be decided against it since he is indoors with the a/c 95% of the time.
I think that over all your Mom did an excellent job! Hope this doesn’t give MY Mom any ideas! BOL! Barks and licks and love, Dakota
A man on a galloping horse will never know the difference – LOL. That’s funny. I gotta remember that line!
Torrey, darling – you could never not look cute. Don’t you worry. I wouldn’t have noticed either except for the close-up shot. (And I’m just in an office chair.) Like you said, it beats going to the spa! And remember – practice makes perfect! (Wish I had tips to share, but I’ve never had a dog that needed grooming. Just endless brushing!)
You like kinda punk!

I’d say you look pretty darn good, Torrey! You should have seen my golden retriever Moses the first time I tried using clippers on him….disaster. Now I’ve gone the opposite way and tried a groomer rather than trying to do it myself with our other Golden!
The only trick I know for the feet, that a groomer once taught me, is to use a slicker brush to brush the fur up before trimming it.
Seriously? You can buzz an Aussie? I’ve had them for twenty years and never knew this. I’m SO doing this to my two BEFORE their next brushing and bath. Which would be tomorrow. And taking photos. SUH-WEET!!!
You look a little rough around the edges but it’s not bad at all. Mama tried to self-groom me for about the first year or two of my life but then she gave up. The groomers made me look so much better. But I do think your mom made you look fab.
I think it looks cute, women pay big money for this look Miss Torrey! As for mom, well she will get better and better each time she does it and it’s way better for you than the stress of being tied on a grooming table!!
