We’re on the move again
We’re on the move again
After a month at the Imperial Dam LTVA, we’re on the move again. Last Friday we did the dentist trip to Algodones, Mexico. We both had cleanings, and the Dentist advised Al on the tooth that he was worried about. Crown probably next year, and since a crown is only $280 there, it won’t be that big of a deal.
Saturday morning we set off with the idea of going to Oatman, Az. again. My hope was, there might be new babies since we had found that one in the wild. We found a place to boondock that would be close to drive into Oatman the next day. The area around Oatman is pretty nice, big canyons, and lots of jagged mountains. We had rain almost all night on Saturday, and woke up to cloud covered canyon walls.
So pretty, and so different for the desert.
We drove into Oatman, but sadly, no little babies. There were a few small ones from last year, that were still pretty cute.
They are just so relaxed. We heard one of the shop owners telling someone they go to the hills at night, and then come back into town. I have my doubts on this, but you never know.
It’s still fun that you can pet their fuzzy ears.
This pair, pushed open the door of this shop and walked right in. Well, almost in. The shop owner had to shoo them away.
Oatman is just tiny, and all the old buildings look pretty original still. I liked this painted wall for this store.
I’m not sure who is not supposed to pee on the porch though. The people or the burros.
We visited Oatman last year, at almost exactly the same time. You can read that post here.
After Oatman, we hooked up and started down the road. Our idea was to get to Lake Mead and find a spot to boondock. Al wasn’t feeling to swift though, he had been having stomach stuff for a few days. I ended up driving us to Boulder City, NV. and we spent the night at a campground we have stayed at a few times in the Lake Mead recreation area, Las Vegas Bay CG.
It was a good place for an evening walk.
It really is a pretty area.
We did find boondocking, and are enjoying a lake view for a few days. More on that later.
OH Mary, that is a DELIGHT and a hoot to see these burritos taking over the little town! That cracks me up…and your close-up shots of the younger ones are just darling; I want to pet the fuzz!
Wishing you a marvelous trip to the next destination.
I love seeing the desert bloom after a rain. Thank you for sharing.
My mom would like to cuddle up with and snuggle those cute furry ones! Adorable!
Hello, I am glad all went well at the dentist. The Burros are so cute. I would like to visit this town. The last view is stunning. Cute shot of Torrey!
Have a happy and week ahead.
Hope Al feels better. And $280 for a crown?! They’re $1000 here! It’s cheaper for me to fly out there for it!
Beautiful mountain views and cute little guys! I love the angles you took, and photo of the clouds over the mountains is remarkable.
I love that they act like they own it. I also love that you can pet them. So they’ve sort of acclimated themselves to humans. Pretty cool.
I just want to reach into the phone screen and pet those adorable, fuzzy ears!
Glad the dental appointment went well!
I don’t know what I envy more reading this post–the pretty spots you’re traveling through or the visit to an inexpensive Mexican dentist. :)
I hope Al is feeling better soon. I love that last photo.
I bet it feels good to be on the move again. :-) The area around Oatman looks beautiful.
That looks like some fun travels, and a lake view sounds heavenly! Hope Al is feeling better!
