Where to go
Sunday afternoon we went on a drive to see if there was someplace, anyplace we could park the RV until we leave in July. We have been in the mother in laws driveway since we got to Utah, and it is less than ideal. Let me first say that the MIL is a wonderful, kind, gentle lady. She is not the reason parking here is horrid. It’s the neighborhood.
Al is trying to clean out 50 plus years of junk from his woodworking shop so we can get it on the market. That’s why we are still here. He needs to be fairly close so he can get this accomplished. The problem is there is no place in the area to park an RV. It’s a pretty RV-unfriendly place. Hence, the long drive we took on Sunday.
We eventually ended up one of the local canyons here. We met this guy an the road.
A very large bull snake. He was all stretched out getting the last of the heat off the road. I tried to tell him he didn’t want to be in the middle of the road. Somebody was going to come along and drive over him. Not everyone is as conscientious as we are. He wasn’t listening though.
He curled up and was intent on my every move. I gave up and left him to his own fate.
We eventually came across this place. How can you not stay here with a name like Unicorn ridge?
It was at the top of the canyon, so much cooler, greener, and quieter. And not one person camped there. The problem is, it’s about 30 miles from Al’s shop, on a bad canyon road. The good thing is, we are headed there tomorrow for a few days.
We will soak in all that we can while we are there though.

Good mornin’, Mary! Oh that snake, I hope he was OK! It saddens me that some people won’t slow down to allow creatures to move out of the way. My husband is so good (me too!) about slowing down to let the local water fowl (big, chunky Canadian geese, ducks, even TURKEYS!) get across the roads. Oh, I wish you luck in getting yourselves parked! You look great my friend. Keep enjoying. Anita

Well at least you will have a few days getting high up and away.
It sounds like Unicorn Ridge will be a great place to take a break from city life for a little while. Maybe you’ll even see a unicorn! :)
PS I loved the photos from your hike up Rock Canyon. That looked like fun, and I’m glad Roxy was feeling good enough to go with you.

Can’t wait for more photos on the area. Sounds like a perfect place to get away to. We had a large Bull Snake on our CO property and made sure no one harmed him.
A lot of people drive 30 miles and more to work to live in the perfect place…looks like you found yours:) Can’t wait to see some photos of your new home!!
And it would be fine if not for the road. HGWY 6 is a pretty dangerous and not fun road. We shall see though.
Hopefully you will spot (and photograph) some of the namesakes of your new camping spot!

Well, I like the “no fee” part but 30 miles is a long distance when you’re trying to clean out a work space. Too bad the neighbours can’t be more neighbourly.
That does sound like a place you couldn’t pass up camping at! I hope you’re enjoying your time there, and at least you’re getting a break from that neighborhood.
